Identify the axial and equatorial atoms in the three‑dimensional structure.

How do you identify the axial atoms vs. the equatorial atoms in the 3-d structure.

In general, axial atoms are up and down, or vertical. Equatorial groups are approximately horizontal, going right and left of the central atom.

Axial is referring the axis position (the vertical axis), and equatorial are the ones surrounding the middle (think the equator of a globe) and the north and South Pole are the axes.
