So VSEPR stands for valence shell electron pair repulsion theory. As for how it relates to lewis structures, I believe it's why we have the elements so far apart from each other when we do the lewis dot structures. Hope this helps!

VSEPR relates to molecular shape because of electron repulsion. The repulsive properties of electrons in proximity will create distance between atoms in a molecule which will create a certain shape with certain bond angles.

VSEPR stands for Valence-Shell Electron Pair Repulsion model. This correlates to Lewis Structures since the VSEPR model is the 3-D version of the Lewis Structure. The VSEPR model is basically a more accurately drawn version of what the molecule's shape would look like.

Lewis structures are very useful for examining a molecule's structure to see location and strength of bonds between two atoms, and location of unpaired electrons. A VSEPR model is more useful for seeing the 3D shape of a molecule, which can be more useful for examining interactions between molecules, etc.

Lewis structures only consider molecules in two-dimensional space and are therefore inaccurate representations of molecules. The VSEPR model, which stands for valence shell electron pair repulsion, is useful because it represents how molecules actually exist in three-dimensional space using geometry.

VSEPR - valence shell electron-pair repulsion
The VSEPR theory was brought up in order to predict the general shape of a molecule using the Lewis structure. To clarify, this theory takes a step further to describe the GEOMETRICAL shape of the molecules. It provides us with more detailed description of the electron locations in the molecule through angles that also indicates the overall 3D structure.
For example, CO2 has a linear geometrical molecular shape, which means that the extending oxygen atoms are attached to the central atom (carbon) at a 180 degree angle.
Of course, there are other geometrical molecular shapes (i.e. trigonal pyramid)
It all revolves around the repulsion forces that create these shapes.
The VSEPR theory was brought up in order to predict the general shape of a molecule using the Lewis structure. Hello!! VSEPR stands for Valence S[censored] Electron Pair Repulsion which accounts for the shape of the molecule. We use Lewis Structures as a guideline in order to find what VSEPR model each molecule best represents. Some examples of what we went over in class so far are: bent (Ex. H20), trigonal planar, trigonal bipyramidal, tetrahedral and octahedral! Each have different angle lengths with respect to the electron repulsion. Hope this helps!

The VSEPR model predicts the structure of molecules based on the theory that valence shell electron pairs of atoms or just lone pairs maximize distance between each other. Certain Lewis structures are known to correspond to certain VSEPR models, so drawing Lewis structures helps predict the VSEPR model of a molecule.

The VSPER theory assumes that each atom in a particular molecule will have a shape that decreases electron repulsion within that atom's valence shell. Knowing a molecule's shape can better help us understand its properties, for example, if it is polar or nonpolar.

Hi, VSEPR stands valence-shell electron-pair repulsion and it shows the geometry or model of a molecule with the bond angles that demonstrate how electron groups will form themselves into a formation that produces the structure with the lowest energy. The Lewis structure shows the number of bonded pair and lone pair of electrons and based off of this information we can figure out the shape of the VSEPR model, for example, Square planar, Tetrahedral, Trigonal planar, and so on.

This correlates to lewis structures and molecular shape as it determines the angles of the bonds due to the repulsion between certain electron pairs. For example, a lone pair with a lone pair has a stronger repulsion and therefore the shape will have bonds with larger angles.

In order to figure out molecular shape, we need to look at the Lewis structure in order to determine the number of bonds and lone pairs around the central atoms. This will help us figure out how the bonds will arrange themselves around the central atom and that helps us find out the molecular shape.

We are able to do this by looking at the central atom of a molecule and looking at the amount of bonds and lone pair electrons it has. Using VSEPR we can also figure out the angles between bonds as well as look at interactions between other molecules.

VSEPR stands for Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory. It is the next step in determining what a molecule will look like and how the different atoms (specifically their electrons) will interact. A Lewis Structure does include bonds and lone pairs, but it does not include any information regarding molecular shape caused by electron repulsion. VSEPR does consider the interactions of electrons.

VSEPR is an acronym that stands for valence shell electron pair repulsion. It is useful for predicting and visualizing molecular structures. The structures are: linear, trigonal planar, angled, tetrahedral, trigonal pyramidal, trigonal bipyramidal, disphenoidal (seesaw), t-shaped, octahedral, square pyramidal, square planar, and pentagonal bipyramidal. To use the table you need to determine the coordination number or number of electron pairs. You should count the valence electrons of the central atom. Add an electron for each bonding atom. Subtract an electron if the central atom has a positive charge; and add an electron for a central atom with negative charge. Finally, look up your molecule on the chart by coordination number and number of atoms.

To relate it to lewis structure, you can think of VSEPR and shape as 3d versions of lewis structures, or as a more accurate/ in depth structure model.
