Hybridization of molecules

Postby Shaniya Kerns 4D » Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:53 pm

How do bond angles correspond with the hybridization of structures? Is there a simpler way of understanding hybridization what is the process of coming to the conclusion that a compound/molecule has sp hybridization compared to a compound/ molecule with sp3 hybridization?

The bond angles in a molecule are influenced by the hybridization of the central atom; the most common are sp3, sp2, and sp. sp3 will have a 109.5 degrees, sp2 will have 120 degrees, and sp will have 180 degrees.
