For double bonding, why are the overlapping orbitals that form a pi bond not hybridized?

If they were they would not be able to overlap side by side.

I'm very lost on how to find the hybridization of each lone pair, will this be on the midterm?

Hybridization of lone pair is the same as the hybridization of the atom it surrounds...not sure if it's on the test or not
