General Hybridization

Postby mayapartha_1D » Sun Nov 19, 2017 8:58 pm

Does anyone have any useful graphics for picturing hybridization? I am trying to come up with a more general picture of hybridization, and feel like watching some sort of a video would make it easier to understand.

Thanks!

This chart is also really helpful when it comes to VSEPR and hybridization: http://web.gccaz.edu/~chriy68124/VSEPR%20handout.pdf
It depicts the lewis structures of many examples, which allows you to see the regions of electron density, and then includes a column with the hybridization of each example as well!

I found this simple video to help visual the concept of hybridization and the idea behind sigma and pi bonds. Very short video that helped me learn a little bit more.
