Hybrid Orbitals
Hi everyone! I noticed some discrepancies on how we write the hybrid orbital for each molecule. I know that if there are five regions of electron density, for example, we use dsp3 for our hybrid orbitals (from the notes). However, my TA and the solutions manual both use sp3d instead. Are both acceptable and why is it written differently? Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Hybrid Orbitals
I believe the correct way to write this is sp3d as that is how it is often written in lecture in the solutions manual of the textbook.

Re: Hybrid Orbitals
In class, he said something about how it is written differently, but the more clear way is sp3d

He also said he preferred the s to do first and my TA writes it that way as well so you prob won't get points taken off either way
