### Homework Question 7th Edition 2F.15

Hello,

I'm having a little difficulty understanding this question:

Noting that the bond angle of an sp3 hybridized atom is 109.5 and that of an sp2 hybridized atom is 120, do you expect the bond angle between two hybrid orbitals to increase or decrease as the s-character of the hybrids is increased?

I'm a little confused to what it means when s-character increases.

I was confused about that question and s-character as well since we haven't really directly discussed it in depth, but a chem mod explains it pretty well here: viewtopic.php?t=1255

S character is the proportion of the number of hybrid orbitals that the s block contributed. For example in sp3 hybridization, there are 4 orbitals and only 1 is from the s block so there is 25% s character.
