Pi bonds

Why are pi bonds always unhybridized?

For sp2, when there are more than 3 valence electrons in the outer shell, three will hybridize and the rest will form pi bonds. This happens because it causes no leftover elections and is optimal.

When you have a double bond, you have 2 pi bonds and 1 sigma bond. When you find the hybridization level, you only count the the number of sigma bonds or hybrid bonds.

What is the difference between pi and sigma?

sigma is all single bonds and pi is the second bond in a double bond

I still don't really understand this concept, can someone explain it further?

In a sigma bond, electron density is usually concentrated between the nuclei of the two bonding atoms. In a pi bond, the electron density is usually concentrated below and above the plane of nuclei in the two bonding atoms. A single bond is referred to as a sigma bond. In a double bond or triple bond, one bond is a sigma bond and the second and third respectively are pi bonds.
