Is there a quicker way to find the hybridization of an atom without drawing a diagram? thanks

The easiest way is to find the # of regions of electron density first by drawing the correct Lewis structure. Once you have found this number, you can determine the number of hybrid orbitals. Make sure the total number of orbitals and electrons remain the same before and after hybridization and that your bonding model matches the Lewis structure (same # of lone and bonded pairs)
