How does increasing the s character, increase the bond angle?

Yes, I think that generally when the s character in a hybrid bond increases, the angle also increases

S character is directly proportional to the bond angle, so as the s character of a hybrid orbital increases the bond angle increases as well. In VSEPR, electrons are arranged to experience minimum repulsion. A high s character would increase the electron density across the central atom, so the bond angle between the atoms increases as they move apart to avoid repulsions.
