Yes! D-orbitals are often involved in hybridization in elements belonging to Period 3 or later because they can accommodate five or more electron pairs. As a result of the expanded valence shell, they require d-orbitals in their hybridized orbitals to account for all of the regions of electron density (confirm what we get from applying VSEPR theory).
