overlapping of oribtals

could someone explain to me the overlapping of orbitals in hybridization?

This video helped a bit in explaining the concept of orbital overlap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppR2Zjtgrsk

But, basically the idea is bonds are formed through valence electrons, but not all valence electrons are from the same orbital (when combining 2 largely different atoms). So, when these atoms bond, their orbitals will combine and become hybridized into a mix of the 2 orbitals. The video above explains how to determine this a bit.
