Can someone explain sigma and pi bonds in relation to single, double and triple bonds ?

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

Every single type of bond has one sigma bond, double bonds have one sigma and one pi, triple bonds have one sigma and two pi bonds. I hope this helps!

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

Single bond: 1 sigma
Double: 1 sigma and 1 pi
Triple: 1 sigma and 2 pi

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

A single bond is one sigma, double bonds have one sigma and one pi, and triple bonds have one sigma and two pi. An example you can think about is CO2 where both oxygens are double bonded to carbon, so there would be two sigmas and two pis.

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

A single bond is a sigma bond.
A double bond consists of one sigma bond, one pi bond
A triple bond consists of one sigma bond, two pi bonds.

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

Sigma bonds are the first bonds that form between atoms. Every consecutive bond (double, triple, etc) is a pi bond.

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

Sigma bonds are the first bonds that form (thus, every bond has a sigma bond). Pi bonds are any bonds that form beyond the first. So, double bonds have one sigma and one pi bond and triple bonds have one sigma and two pi bonds.

### Re: Sigma and Pi bonds

so the single bonds are sigma bonds, the double bonds are sigma bonds and pi bonds, and triple bonds are one sigma bonds and two pi bonds
