Location of Hybridized Atoms

Postby Stuti Pradhan 2J » Sun Nov 22, 2020 6:43 pm

Are central atoms the only atoms in a molecule that can undergo hybridization? Why or why not?

Thank you in advance!

I believe that all atoms can undergo hybridization, its just most commonly asked about the central atom but lavelle said the hybridization of H was s i believe when talking about C: sp3 cross with H: s.

Hi! All atoms that have p or d orbitals are able to hybridize in a molecule, not just the central atom!
