## Energy Level of sp3d and sp3d2

$sp, sp^{2}, sp^{3}, dsp^{3}, d^{2}sp^{3}$

### Energy Level of sp3d and sp3d2

I know these hybridized orbitals won't be our focus, but would the energies of these orbitals be lower than the 3d energy level and above the 3p energy level, or is it a little bit more complex than that?

Dr. Lavelle mentioned that the energy of the hybrid orbitals is the average of the energies of the atomic orbitals used.

After hybridization, all four hybrid orbitals have the same energy, lower than p orbitals, but higher than s orbitals. In terms of d orbitals, this website might help explain a bit more.
