cis v trans platin
We learned that the structure of cisplatin makes it more effective at binding with DNA and preventing replication. Transplatin can still bond with DNA but only once, making it more likely to be knocked off. Can increasing the amount of transplatin result in similar results as cisplatin, or does this make things even more unstable and crowded?

While both cisplatin and transplatin can bind to DNA and induce damage, cisplatin's ability to form stable intrastrand cross-links makes it more effective in preventing DNA replication. Increasing the concentration of transplatin may enhance its DNA binding, but it is unlikely to fully replicate the effectiveness of cisplatin due to the differences in the stability of the formed bonds.

Hi, the increasing amount of transplatin does not not really lead to similar results as cisplatin. Transplatin can initially bond with DNA but increasing its concentration may not make it as effective as cisplatin. Cisplatin allows it to form stable bonds with DNA, preventing replication. Increasing transplatin concentration can lead to crowding, but it doesn't really enhance its effectiveness in the same way as cisplatin!. Hope this helps.
