How do you calculate bond order of a molecule?

It's the bond per atom. Number of bonds from the central atom divided by the number of atoms bonded to the central atom.

What's the difference between bond from the central atom and to the central atom? Can you clarify a bit more?

Is this actually important to know for the test or would it not be covered?

Bond order would equal the number of bonding electrons subtracted by the number of anti-bonding electrons, then divide the difference by two.
