A molecule has a pi bond if there are any bonds that are double bonds or more within that molecule. A double bond consists of one sigma bond and one pi bond. A triple bond consists of one sigma bond and two pi bonds and so on. If a molecule with double bonds or triple bonds has a resonance structure, the electrons are delocalized so that there is even distribution of electron density.
