Why does ammonia bind stronger that H2O?

Oxygen has a greater electronegativity than nitrogen so the non-bonded electron pair on a nitrogen atom is more available for sharing than a non-bonded electron pair on an oxygen atom.

The EN of oxygen is significantly larger, and the lone pair of electrons on the ammonia have much more affinity for a strong bond than the oxygen does.
