Does anyone know the easier way to find the oxidation number of the compound’s metal?

A fairly easy was to get the number is by subtracting the charge of a ligand from the total charge of the compound. resulting value should be your oxidation number

The easiest way for me to find the oxidation number for a compound's metal is by figuring out which number plus the charge from the ligand is would equal to the total charge of the compound. Its best to memorize the charges of common ligands from this course.
