Ligand Suffix

Is there a difference between naming with the suffix -o and-ido? For example, hydroxo and hydroxido

There are two different naming systems used for ligands. They can both be found on the Naming Coordination Compounds sheet that Dr. Lavelle has posted on his website. Ligands with the -ido endings come from the IUPAC form of the name and the -ido is interchangeable with -o. Just stick to one form when naming, either -ido or -o.

Is either one incorrect? If we choose the -o version, will we get it wrong?
