Is it true that we do not need to name on the final or did I misunderstand what Dr. Lavelle meant?

no we don't need to know names of molecules, the professor mentioned this in the last class and he said just to ignore that part of book problems, but you're talking about naming molecules right?

I am pretty sure he said there is no naming on the final exam.

So for homework problems if we ignore the naming, we won't get points off correct?

I would try to avoid the naming problems on the homework.

That is correct we are not covering naming and he said that we can skip problems that require you to name them.

I think that you will have to know what molecule it is based on its name, but I'm guessing they will be fairly simple.

So we just need to write the formula instead of naming as well?

I think something we are expected to do is understand what the molecular formula is based on a more simple type of name. for example compounds in the form YtetraX, where that molecule would be the element Y surrounded by four X elements.
