I'm trying to know what the significance of these are, so what do a coordination sphere, number, and compound tell us?

A coordination sphere is made up from the ligands directly attached to the central ion or metal atom. A coordination number tells us the number of bonds the central metal is bonded to. A coordination compound is biologically significant as seen in the function of hemoglobin and when cisplatin forms a coordination compound with DNA to stop cell division.

Can someone post an example problem of a coordination compound and go through it? I get the concept but not how to write the answer if that makes any sense
