Postby Victoria Luu - 1C » Sun Dec 02, 2018 2:47 pm

What is the coordination sphere and how do you know that the compound will form a sphere from the coordination name?

Coordination sphere is just the name given to all of the compounds and molecules within the brackets.

So for example, we have [NiCl2(NH3)4] . 2H20. Everything inside the square brackets is inside the coordination sphere. Ligands directly attached to central ion make up the coordination sphere.
