Latin prefixes

Postby Aj1156 » Sun Dec 02, 2018 8:40 pm

Do we need to know how to name ions based on their Latin root for naming the compound?

For instance, that Fe (II) and Fe (III) are ferrous and ferric?

I don't think so, but it's a good thing to know just in case.

I think just knowing that iron is ferrate is enough.

Im not sure if we'll be tested on it but I would recommend you memorize them just in case.
