Are we going to be tested on naming coordination compounds? There was a little bit of confusion in my UA session because the UA said that Lavelle was supposed to remove naming from the curriculum.

Yes, naming coordination compounds wasn't covered last Spring, but Dr. Lavelle did cover it this quarter, so it will be on your final exam.

I believe we will be tested on coordination compounds. We are expected to name them, derive the formula from the name, and draw their structures. It would also be beneficial to know how they are significant in a biological point of view. I hope this helps!

I believe that we can still be tested on them since they were covered in lecture

do we have to know the actual chemical composition of en or can we just memorize that en pairs as a bidentate

I believe that since we covered the naming of coordination compounds in class we will be tested on it

And also I think that it would be a good idea to know the formula for en as if we are given a coordination complex to name it might have the formula in it rather than the abbreviation en.

I believe that they will be on the test since they were covered in class and are included under the lecture outlines on Dr. Lavelle's website.

Will Kw=1.0*10^-14 be given on the formula sheet for the exam?

Yeah, Kw is provided, it's on the formula sheet, near the bottom.
