Which ligand names are we strongly encouraged to know for the final?

More important than specific ligands are the rules you need to know. However some common exceptions to the rule you might include the NH3 group which becomes ammine, CO becomes Carbonyl, and NO becomes nitrosyl.

Another good one to remember is that H2O is aqua when naming compounds. I think Dr. Lavelle also mentioned how, for compounds like CN-, you can use either cyano or cyanido.

I would also make sure to know the polyatomic ions!
