If there is more than one ligand you put the prefixes "di-, tri-, tetra-" before its name. However, do not order the ligands alphabetically by the prefixes- just by the ligand name itself. After writing the ligands, name the metal ion. If the ion is negatively charged, add "-ate" to the metal name. If the ion is positive, just leave the metal name as is. Finally, write the oxidation number for the number as a roman numeral in parenthesis. You can find this by finding the charge of the metal. Then add "ion" at the end if the molecule is charged.
