Both are acceptable. One is just newer according to IUPAC naming conventions.

They are both the same thing. I know chlorido is the new one but they will be accepting both.

Lavelle said that both will be accepted. One is just an older way to name while so since the change happened recently, they will be fine with either one.

Is there any instance that you would you "chlorine" when naming or just "chloride"? What's the explanation behind using either?

You would use an elements base name for prefix and suffix of coordination compound.

In a similar case, I believe the use of both amine and ammine will be accepted as well. One is just newer.
