Naming Compounds (general question)

Postby 905174774 » Thu Nov 14, 2019 7:08 pm

At any point do we have to name compounds are would the empirical formula be given on the test?

I doubt it since we didn't really go over it in class/discussion

I hope not, and Lavelle made it seem like we won't really need to even though some of the homework problems require naming. Though, if we are provided the table that is in the book (9C.1), it is relatively easy to figure out the name of a compound.

I believe the only compounds we will be asked to name (or come up with when given the name) are the coordinate covalent complexes, which Lavelle will be lecturing on during Friday's lecture.

Dr. Lavelle also just sent an email with a naming chart that is helpful

I think we would only have to know the general rules for naming coordination complexes.
