Common Names

Postby Kyla Grunden 1L » Fri Nov 29, 2019 7:40 pm

Will we be required to know some of the common names of complex ions? For example, apparently [Fe(CN)6]4- does not follow the systematic naming of complex ions and is instead known as Ferricyanide.

I've never heard of ferricyanide, but I think it's safer to just follow the naming system we learned in class

I would say don't stress yourself out about exceptions unless they are exceptions he specifically named in class.
