Naming Compounds with Two Ligands

Postby Brandon Valafar » Tue Dec 03, 2019 12:30 am

How do we know which ligand to put in the name first if there are two different ligands in the coordination compound? Thanks.

The ligand that is alphabetically first is the one that we shall use first. For example ammine would go before carbonyl and sulfato. Hope this helps!

You order them alphabetically ignoring greek prefixes.
