I was wondering if anyone knew if we needed to memorize the anionic ligands?

No! You do not need to memorize them, but I would be familiarize yourself with when we use them!

Re: Naming Coordination Compounds
I think it would be really helpful to know the simpler ligands, since I'm pretty confident that we're going to be asked to name some coordination compounds on the final. For the insanely long ligand names, I think it's okay if we don't memorize those haha.

I don't think you need to memorize them, but it is probably good if you understand generally how they were named (basically just taking out the ending and putting an o like chloride to chloro)

I was told by a few other people that it's recommend to try to memorize them.

You don't have to memorize how to name them but you should know when to put the prefixes and when to change the metal cation into an -ate.
