Why is [Co(CN)5(OH2)]2- aquapentacyano cobaltate(Ⅲ) instead of aquapentacyano cobalt(Ⅲ)

The coordination compound is an anion, therefore we need to add the suffix "-ate" to the end of the transition metal name to indicate that.

It is a negative ion, so you must add -ate to the end of the transition metal name. For reference Dr. Lavelle has the naming guide and it should be there.
