Compounds that can form chelates

I know Lavelle told us that commonly, compounds that can form chelates have two atoms that aren't boding sites in between them. He said that was the most common form, but is it possible to have a compound that can form a chelate with only one atom in between the two atoms that can form a chelate?

Yes it is possible but not common. Cation must be small. These uncommon examples are not likely to be tested and if they were we would accept monodentate and bidentate as this is the maximum binding for a three center ligand.

Focus on the examples I covered in class.
