Abbreviations

Postby Nick Lewis 4F » Sat Dec 07, 2019 8:31 pm

On the exam, are we allowed to write oxalato as (ox) or do we have to say (C2O4)? Can we say (en) or do we have to say NH2CH2CH2NH2? Is one better than the other or are they interchangeable without losing points?

I'm pretty sure we can use abbreviations for (en) and (edta). I'm not sure about oxalato.

Yes, we're allowed to use abbreviations (Lyndon and many TAs have confirmed this). en, edta, and ox (for oxalato) are all allowed.

I think all of these abbreviations are okay for the final.

Abbreviations are fine for the final, including ox.
