Can you tell if a ligand is chelating just by looking at its molecular formula?

If it has the structure binding site-spacer-spacer-binding site then it is typically chelating

yes if they have lone pairs to donate and are relatively made of sigma bonds so it can be rotated.

Any polydentate ligand is a chelating ligand
