Chloro vs. Chlorido

Postby LavieTran2B » Sun Nov 28, 2021 9:02 pm

Hello,

I noticed in Dr. Lavelle's notes, he says to drop the -ine in chlorine and add -o to make chloro, however, the textbook states to drop the -ine and add -ido. I was just wondering if both are correct and interchangeable or if one of them is incorrect.

I noticed that too, I would go with what Lavelle says because that's probably what he's gonna do on the final

Hello! While I was doing the homework I thought about this too! I think both are technically correct but I would follow what he taught since this is what we will have to apply to the final if we get a question concerning this. I hope this helped!

As everyone else is saying, I would practice using what Lavelle taught in class! However, it would probably be okay to be familiar with each: assuming the final is multiple choice (I think it is?), I'm sure only one or the other would be available as an option to avoid confusion.
