Hi! If I'm understanding your question correctly, there is a certain structure to follow when naming the coordination compounds:

greek prephix + ligand names (in alphabetical order) + TM cation + (Roman numeral/oxidation) + Anion + greek prephix + hydrate

When you name a coordination compound, you write the names of the ligands in alphabetical order (don't consider the prefixes like bis- or tri- or penta- for example)

Just wanted to add that the names of ligands change in coordination compounds (e.g. ammonia becomes "ammine"; H20 is "aqua"), which might affect the alphabetical naming scheme mentioned in the previous responses.

Hi! The order to name coordination compounds would be
1. ligands in alphabetical order with prefixes
2. the transition metal name with the charge in roman numerals
3. add ions that are out of the coordination sphere

To name coordination compounds:
Start with the greek prefix for the number of ligands plus the ligand names in alphabetical order,
then state the transition metal cation with the oxidation number in (roman numerals), then state any anion or hydrate.

The order would be:
-greek prefix
-Ligands in alphabetical order & prefixes (di, tri, tetra, etc)
-Transition metal name (charge/ox # in roman numerals)
-Ion

Hi!

The order would be:
1. greek prefix for # of ligands, w/ligands in alphabetical order
2. transition metal cation w/the charge in roman numerals
3. any anion or hydrate out of the brackets

This is the order:

1. Ligands in alphabetical order + prefixes, if applicable (note: the ligands should be placed in alphabetical order, without looking at the prefix)
2. Transition metal (oxidation state in roman numerals) - note: Add -ate to the end of the TM name if the coordination sphere is negative
3. If there is a cation in front of the [], that goes at the start of the name (before the ligands). If there is an anion after the [], that goes at the end of the name (after the TM).

You start with the ligands, going in alphabetical order, then the metal.
