Ligand Names
Are we expected to use the names for the ligands that are listed under NAMES* or the new IUPAC name convention, or are both appropriate to use as long as we are consistent?

Re: Ligand Names
Hello,
According to the "Naming Coordination Compounds" document on the website, we use NAME* but both are accepted.
I hope this helps!

I think naming coordination compounds (with the ligands) goes the way Dr. Lavelle explained in class (for example, "chloro-"). I'm not really sure what you mean by using the new IUPAC naming convention but we should typically name things alphabetically (excluding the Greek prefixes)!

Hi, I was wondering this too! From my understanding, I think for the "Naming Coordination Compounds" list, we should focus on the column that says NAMES*. However, I'm sure both are acceptable. I hope this helps!

Re: Ligand Names
I assume you mean using "chloro" vs "chlorido" as it says in the textbook. Considering he taught us the first way in class, that will probably be whats on the test.

Thank you! Names seems like the most obvious and what we have worked with in class.
