Neutral Ligands Names

Postby Alexis Rempillo 3B » Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:08 pm

Hello,
Are we supposed to know only the neutral ligands from the book, like ammine, aqua, nitrosyl, carbonyl, ethylenediamine(en), diethylenetriamine (dien) or are there more we need to remember?

I think we need to remember some of the anionic ones too, like oxalate (oxalato), sulfate (sulfato), and edta. I'm gonna memorize what was covered in lecture and in textbook problems just to be safe.

Dr. Lavelle provided a comprehensive worksheet on his website that specifies all the ligand names in coordination compounds that we must know. I would suggest reviewing that!
