Oxidation number

Postby 105561735 » Sun Dec 10, 2023 11:35 am

How do I go about finding the oxidation number of the first cation? I have failed a couple of questions and don't seem to realize what exactly I'm doing wrong

The oxidation number of an ion is simply the number of electrons that that ion has gained or lost. For example, in the compound iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) the iron atoms have an oxidation number of 3 because the oxygen atoms take 3 electrons from each iron atom.
