Homework Problem 17.29

Postby Aleena_Sorf_2A » Mon Nov 14, 2016 11:57 am

When it asks us to name the complex ion in part c, why is cobalt written as cobaltate? For example, both part b and part d have the compound written as cobalt.

Hello,

In lecture, Professor Lavelle said that if the complex has a negative charge(which is rare), the Transition metal will end in ate.

Hope that helps :)
