Homework Q17.37

Postby Rucha Kulkarni 2A » Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:49 pm

For part c and d of this question, the coordination number of the central metal depends upon the chelating compound. Are we required to know the chelating compounds and how many bonds they form, or will this information be given to us on the exam?

I don't think we'll be given the information :( but there is a link on Lavelle's website to a document called "Naming Coordination Compounds" that you might find helpful. I think the best way to figure out chelating is by drawing the compound and seeing how many places there are available for linkage.

Hope this helps!

Hi, can someone please go through what bonds of the molecule one should look at to determine coordination compounds for these molecules? I was tried to do it by free electron pairs but I can't get the right answers.
