Chelate

Postby kellyz_1C » Thu Jun 07, 2018 8:32 pm

My TA went over an example in a discussion where a chelate was formed but only between three atoms and then said that it is usually between 5+ atoms. How are we to know when a chelate forms between less than 5 atoms?

Chelates are formed when a ligand, usually polydentate, forms a ring with the transition metal.
