Chelating Ligands

Postby Elena Saab 4A » Thu Nov 29, 2018 10:01 am

How do you tell if a ligand will form a chelate? What does it mean to be a chelate?

Recall that a chelate is a complex with a ligand that forms a ring of atoms, including the central metal atom. For your ligand, look for multiple electron pairs that the ligand can donate to form a bond with the central metal ion.
