What exactly is a chelate? Does this strengthen or weaken the bonding of the complex?

A chelate refers to a compound containing a ligand (typically organic) bonded to a central metal atom at two or more points.

Chelate is the complex containing a ligand that forms a ring of atoms that includes the central metal atom. Because a ring structure is formed, I think the complex is more stable.
