Coordination Number

Postby AlyssaBei_1F » Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:27 pm

To find the coordination number, do we have to draw the Lewis structure and count the number of bonds? Or is there an easier way than drawing the lewis structure?

Drawing the most stable Lewis structure is probably the best way to go about it, because it will give you the correct answer every time if it is drawn correctly.

I agree to draw the Lewis Structure and count how many ligands attach to the central atom and how many loan pairs are present as well.
