Textbook question 9c.5

Postby Paige Lee 1A » Sat Nov 23, 2019 3:04 pm

Could someone please explain how to determine which ligands are polydentate? I drew out all the Lewis structures for this question, but I don't know where to go from there

Take into account the atoms with lone pairs electrons and shapes on the ligands. If all the lone pairs of electrons are on one atom in a ligand, then it is not likely that the ligand will be polydentate. But if the lone pairs of electrons are distributed between different atoms on a ligand, then it is likely that the ligand will be polydenta
