If water is present and written as a part of the coordination complex, the transition metal will bond with it.

A complex is defined as "a species consisting of a central atom or ion to which a number of molecules or ions are attached by coordinate covalent bonds" and a coordination compound is basically a compound where at least one of the ions present is a complex. Though the terms can be used interchangeably I believe

If it is written in the coordination complex and if h2o is present it then yes, the transition metal will bond.
